Civil Engineering

Construction engineering is at the very heart of our work. This involves planning and the execution of designs, transportation, site development, logistical operations and budget control.

We regularly undertake drainage works, deep excavations, culvert renewals, installation of modular buildings and road traffic management.

Graham & Brown Ltd, Blackburn

Construction of new steel framed and cladded building for Blackburn based Wall Paper Manufacturer Graham & Brown, Wade Group, whilst fulfilling the role of Principal Contractor on this project have carried out site clearance, ground works and project management support. The building (shown in the photograph) is being constructed to house a new heat recovery system being installed as part of a multi-million pound investment in the Blackburn site.

Project Engineer, Tony Conroy comments:
“this project is part of an ongoing commitment by Graham & Brown to invest in the best and latest technologies to ensure the business is competitive in the wall paper manufacturing industry. The heat recovery system is replacing our existing plant which is coming to the end of its serviceable life. The Wade Group has provided me with excellent support and have added value to the project through their hands on approach to project and safety management during the construction phase which has allowed me to concentrate on other aspects of the project”.

Deep culvert renewal

We are involved in challenging engineering projects. These typically involve site clearance and commissioning installations deep below ground. Each commission brings its own challenge:

Working some eight metres below ground, close to an ancient burial ground, we worked in partnership with a team of archaeologists. Fifty human remains were discovered, exhumed and removed, enabling construction work to begin ahead of schedule on this project.
